Email Update March 19, Morning (Update #2)

Greetings Prospective Piranhas Families!

We are very close to having the registration and website ready for you to start to register your swimmers. As I explained in my message last week, registration will be done in waves, with member registration beginning very soon (hopefully tomorrow), and non-member registration for remaining spots starting in 2 weeks at the latest.

Here are some answers to some common questions:

- We will meet with the pool board to finalize the practice schedule March 31, and I'll share it a day or so later. Practices will take place early evenings 2-3 times per week and weekend mornings (Sat. and/or Sun.).

- The meet schedule is set by the Atlanta Swim Association. The Piranhas compete with intown Atlanta and DeKalb teams. Our first four meets are on Tuesdays: May 31, June 7, June 14, and June 21. The final meet is on Monday June 27. We do not know the teams/pools yet. Glenwood Park is not able to host meets, so we do not have a "home" meet. The divisional meet is at the GA Tech Aquatic Center and will take place one day the week of June 27. More details TBA.

Finally, a word on fees. - Last week, in update #1, I quoted a price of $200/ member and $250/ nonmember. Unfortunately I discovered this week that I had omitted several budget items from my first draft, and to ensure the best experience for our swimmers, we have adjusted our team fees to $220 for members and $270 for nonmembers. The fee includes Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) fees, swim cap, and meet fees. The additional fee for nonmembers is a pool use fee. I apologize for this increase and for making my first announcement too soon. However, for families with more than one swimmer, there is a 10% discount on the team fee as well as a 20% discount on pool use fees for nonmembers. We are committed to providing an excellent coaching experience for our swimmers.

Email me with any questions or concerns regarding fees. Please reach out with your questions. We're excited to get this season started. All the best, Martha Glenwood Park Piranhas Parent Committee if you can't beat 'em... eat 'em!
