Practice Policies

Practice Information (**CRITICAL- PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY**)

  • Practice groups: Practice groups are organized by age group: 5-6; 7-10; 11-up. The pool board has agreed to allot 4 lanes for our practices, with the 4th lane to be made available for a member adult who wishes to swim laps. That means swimmers will be practicing in age groups to spread out and complete age-appropriate drills to develop their skill and endurance.
  • Pool access: Swimmers should arrive on time to ensure they get the full advantage of the practice. This is especially important if you're not a pool member, as the pool is accessed with a key fob. Glenwood Park pool members will use key fobs for entrance and should allow team members and their caregivers access.
  • We have volunteers who will help with practice admission. The phone numbers of these volunteers will be provided in an email. You will be able to call these parents for access. Provided we all commit to helping one another, access should not be a problem. Please note that we will do our best to manage this as parents/ volunteers so that our coaches can keep their eyes on the swimmers at all times.
  • Practice expectations: As the team practices, 2 lanes will be available for members. It is our plan to maintain excellent relations with pool members and their families. Swim team kids should set a good example by entering the practice area only when it is their turn to practice.
  • Non-member families must leave the pool when their practices are over. If you are a member and you wish to invite a nonmember to stay, you must use your guest passes to do so and record these guests in the log book at the entrance.
  • Parents supervising multiple kids in different practice groups must supervise their children who are not practicing at all times. Our coaches have to keep their eyes on the swimmers. Please help ensure that all the swimmers receive the full attention of the coaches during their practice time.
  • Swimmers will practice in light rain, but the pool closes for 30 minutes if there is thunder or lightening in the vicinity. Practices may be cancelled due to intermittent thunder/lightning. Parents should check email and Facebook if the weather looks rainy to see if practice is on.
  • Swimmers are expected to adhere to coaches rules and practice good sportsmanship.
  • Parking expectations: Parking spaces for condo residents are clearly marked and must not be used unless you are a condo resident. A small number of spaces are marked for pool members. Parking for swim team is available on Glenwood Park Drive (encircling the green space) and there is a very handy walkway to the pool right around 956 Glenwood Park Drive (see image below).
