Meet #2: Housekeeping items

MEET # 2 IS JUST A FEW HOURS AWAY!

Here are a few housekeeping items.

Please try to arrive at pool location by 5pm for team prep work and warmups. Meet will start at 6pm.

Please plan to stay for the final relays as well. If this is your first meet, the coaches will explain to your swimmer and to our bullpen volunteers how the relays work.

PLEASE PLAN ROUTES ACCORDINGLY FOR TRAFFIC!

ADDRESS:

Smoke Rise Country Club

4900 Chedworth Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30087

What to bring: For your swimmers: (suit, goggles, at least 2 towels) and change of clothes. Your swimmer will be getting wet and drying off frequently. Clothes are good to have around to stay warm/dry. Parents: STAY COOL :-) Unless you want an early tan!

What to wear: Swimmers wear their racing suits and their white swim caps to represent Piranhas Pride. If you were unable to pick up your suits from Martha this weekend, she will have them at the meet at 5 PM.

Home Team/Home Pool Specifics

Parking: There is minimal parking at the pool but parking is available up the hill from the pool at the Country Club. The club also allows parking along one side of the road (you'll see the side with "no parking" signs).

Food: Since the County Club hosts our meets and they have a restaurant license, we are not allowed to bring in outside food to the pool. The swimmers can bring water bottles and small snacks, but we are not allowed to bring other food into the pool area (pizza, subs, etc). The club's concessions consist of hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese, snacks, and drinks.

Timers: We will be using regular stop watches for timing and a whistle to start the races. We have a starter but it had issues at last weeks' meet so a parent is trying to repair it - if it's fixed, we'll use it - if not, we'll have whistle starts. (Piranhas parents, we still need four more timers minimum- if you haven’t decided on a job yet, please pick timer!)

Volunteers: The Sharks’ Team Lead will call all timers, lane judges, runners, etc to the scoring tent before the meet begins to address any questions and get everyone their equipment.

Seating: Smoke Rise recommends spectators bring chairs. There is not room for tents.

Bull Pen: In the past, our bull pen was in the back corner area away from the starting blocks. When we arrive tomorrow, we will verify where they want us this year. Bull Pen parents: We will group our swimmers exactly the way we did last week, in one general area, with kids separated by age group.

Swimmers: Your swimmers will be seated together by age groups (6&u boys/girls, 8&U boys/girls 10&U boys/girls etc.). This will help with organization and help us/Bullpen Coordinators find your swimmers when it is time to race.

*Note* When your swimmers are not racing please help coaching staff keep your kids in their designated area and not running around in the pool area, playing in the pool or just missing:*

Sunscreen/ Bug Repellent: It will be a sunny day and sunset is not until after 8 PM, so sunscreen is recommended. If you have sweet skin, load up on bug repellent for you and your swimmer(s). As sunset happens I'm sure mosquitos will come out for dinner.

Volunteers: Volunteers are what make the meets happen and without your help they cannot and will not run successfully. Each team is required to provide volunteers so if you have not signed up so far please lend a hand! We cannot start the meet without your help! Every job lasts half the meet. You will switch with another volunteer so everyone gets to enjoy the swim meet. Please don't hesitate to assist!

HOW Tos: Please see the "Meet Essentials" document (look for the first meet message). This will get you meet-ready and understand the swimming world. In the meet information section of this page you will find the .pdf documents that are referenced in the how to's page. *NOTE* FEEL FREE TO ASK YOUR COACHES FOR HELP. We want to help you learn the process as well as the swimmers.

What to do: Cheer your swimmer and teammates on to a VICTORY!

If you have any questions, concerns or you are running late please email me at [email protected].

Thanks,

Coach Nate & YOUR GWP Piranhas Coaching Staff
