Swim meet registration and FAQ

5/13/24

Greetings Piranhas Parents,

Welcome to SWIM MEET SEASON! Signup for all meets is now open!If you plan to attend the meets (which we hope you do!) you must use Swimtopia to commit to attend.

How to sign up

  • It is equally important to know that you will be there, or that you will not be there! Please follow these steps either way.
  • Log in to glenwoodparkpiranhas.swimtopia.com using your swimtopia user id and password
  • Go to the Meets and Events tab.
  • Click Signup Calendar
  • All meets are open.
  • First, click the green Meet Entry button.
  • Your child will be “undeclared.” Click Edit. Choose “attending this meet” or “not attending this meet.” Click Save.
  • Notes: if you have time constraints or unique requests, please put them in the notes.

NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART: THE VOLUNTEER CALL!

  • IF YOUR SWIMMER IS ENTERED IN THE MEET, after you register your swimmer, click the green Job Signup button. Choose a job. We need everyone to volunteer. :)
  • See this link for job descriptions. If you like to interact more directly with kids, or you want to be with your kid, choose bullpen parent. If you like to be in charge, choose deck manager. If you’d rather keep the stats, choose timing, recording, computer manager, or place judge.
  • Upon arriving at the meet pool, you will check in with the volunteer sign-in person. They will provide an overview of the volunteer duties and let you know where your station is located.
  • There is always a timing meeting at the beginning of each meet. Coaches from our team (or the other one if necessary) will explain the roles if you don’t know them.

Parent volunteers make swim meets happen. It’s fun! If you’re new, no worries! We’ll teach you.

FAQ

  • Who chooses what events my child will swim? Coaches choose swimmer’s races. You can expect that each swimmer will do two individual events and two relays (only 1 relay for 5-6 year olds).. The only exceptions allowed are when there is a very small number of swimmers in an age group. This is typically the case only with our older groups (i.e. 15 and up).
  • Swimtopia says “Start: 6:00 PM.” When do we need to be there? We ask that families be at the meet pool by 5:00 PM at the latest.
  • How much time do I have to declare my swimmers? Each week, meet registration closes on Sundays at 12 PM. I’lll send a reminder when the deadline is getting close.
  • What is the schedule? The first four swim meets are on Tuesdays (5/28, 6/4, 6/11, 6/18). The fifth is on a Monday (6/24). Mark your calendars! Even better, declare all the meets you can now. We can plan the whole season in advance!

Let me know what questions you have!

Regards,

Martha
