Upcoming Glenwood Park Piranhas Swim Team Registration 2025

Hello, Piranha Families!

We are so excited to let everyone know that swim team registration is right around the corner. Registration for the Glenwood Park Piranhas swim team will begin March 15 for Glenwood Park pool members and March 31 for non-members.

The Glenwood Park Piranhas is a traditional summer swim team that is part of the Atlanta Swim Association summer league. We practice during the month of May and then practice and compete during the month of June. Meets are on Tuesday afternoons/evenings. A short, fast, and furious season with lots of fun for new* and experienced swimmers alike. Swimmers ages 5-18 (from rising kindergarten all the way to our newest high school grads) are welcome to join. More news on schedules, fees, and registration details will come soon!
* Please note: swimmers ages 5-10 should be able to swim 1 length of the pool independently; swimmers ages 11 and up must be able to swim 1-2 lengths (the meet races are 2 lengths)

Sadly, Martha Donovan has officially stepped down from her role as our fearless leader. We would like to thank Martha for her leadership and dedication to the team. You've done an amazing job. For the 2025 season, the team parent reps will be Malessa Paez, Roxy Drew, and Kim Knapp. Defining our roles will be ongoing, but here is the current plan:
- Malessa will act as the liaison between the team and the pool board. Additionally, she will also be the Volunteer Coordinator at our meets.
- Roxy will be managing registration. She will also be the Lead Deck Manager at meets.
- Kim will handle communication with families. If you have questions, email me are [email protected].

The coaches, parents, and kids from the past few seasons have made the team such a fun experience, and we want to continue to build on that. After our first meeting, we determined a few areas of focus for the season:
- Team culture (our kids need a spirited, pre-meet battle cry!). We would also like to focus on good sportsmanship and being good guests at other pools.
- We would also like to remind parents that the swim team is run by parent volunteers. All families should plan to volunteer in some capacity at meets. The volunteer roles at the meets are critical for a positive experience. The plan is to provide some training to parents before meets start, however most of the training happens on the job.
- It is important to follow the rules set by the team liaison and the Glenwood Park Pool board. Maintaining good standing with the board is critical to the future of the team. The most sensitive rules to uphold : no parking in condo tenants' parking spots (not even for short periods of time) and do not leave children unattended at the pool.
We are so looking forward to the upcoming season! Go Piranhas!
